People Spamming my Site
I’ve been getting people spamming my site recently with ads for viagra and all that. It’s fairly annoying so I have decided to start moderating all the comments for a while in an attempt to clean things up. Also if any potential spammers are out there please be aware that I add the nofollow attribute to all links in the comment section.
“The nofollow attribute is another method used to strip spammers of their page ranks. According to Google, “when Google sees the attribute (rel="nofollow") on hyperlinks, those links won’t get any credit when we rank websites in our search results.” Under WordPress v1.5, the nofollow attribute is automatically added to all links in the comments section.”
So if you are spamming me to raise your Google Rank you are wasting your time.
It’s really irritating isn’t it, that people have time to cause havoc on other’s sites. The only method I have found is to moderate comments as you are doing however, first time I did this and waited for a while hoping the spamming would die down. Soon as I removed the comment moderator they were back again. Other way is to close comments on old posts as I’ve found they also try the back door.

It is shagging irritating. I was going to set up a spam blocker but I was afraid it would start blockingeverything. We will have to run with it and see. I don’t really see the point. It won’t upgrade their Google Rank and most people here wouldn’t visit those sites.
I dunno.
It’s pretty sad.
